An heirloom with origins from Latvia, by way of Ireland seed savers, this tomato is a large dark reddish brown beefsteak variety. Ripe tomato displays a handsome greenish brown top and can get as large as 15 ounces. The plant grows to an average size of about 5 feet but can get as tall as 7 feet in verdant soil. The flavor can be described as rich and smokey with a bit of sweetness. It’s great for making a robust sauce or as a deep flavor addition to a salad.
